Building & Standards Commission

The Building & Standards Commission is a citizen-appointed board responsible for reviewing and addressing issues related to substandard structures, code compliance, and property maintenance within the city. The commission works to ensure public health, safety, and welfare by:

  • Reviewing cases of unsafe or deteriorated buildings.
  • Hearing appeals related to building code enforcement actions.
  • Issuing orders for repair, demolition, or securing dangerous structures.
  • Supporting city efforts to maintain neighborhood standards and property values.

The commission operates under authority granted by state law and city ordinances and serves as an important link between residents, property owners, and municipal code enforcement efforts.
